Domain Transfers vs Mapping

  I am planing to map my domain that I have registered with godaddy as there is a 60 day lock in period. If I map that domain for now to build the website with wordpress with a paid account, could I transfer the same domain from godaddy to wordpress at a later date so that its easy for me to maintain everything in one place including domian renewals?

  The site I need help with is foruria.wordpress.com.

  Hi there,

  You can, yes, and as long as you don’t use the free domain included in your paid plan (assuming you’re buying an annual plan), you also won’t need to pay anything extra once you transfer the domain. The transfer will also renew your domain for an additional year, so the first renewal payment will only be due in two years’ time from when you originally registered it.
