Domain upgrade not worj

Hi,
I was told to renew my domain because it would expire in October. However I am not sure if this is the case. Can you please clarify if domain renewal is compulsory to keep the blog live?
In renewing my domain, it does seem to be doing anything. Can you please clarify. What upgrades do I get? What are the advantages?

Domain renewal is not compulsory. However, purchasing a domain and not renewing it is fraught with disaster. The authority and page rank the blog earned are attributed to the domain URLs. If you do not renew your domain then what will happen is every URL will be broken and the blog with revert to the .wordpress.com URLs. Then anyone clicking domain URLs to the blog found in search engine results or anywhere on the internet will experience a 404 (page not found) and will not be directed to the content. This thread is flagged for a Staff response as well.

Timethief is correct. Renewing the domain is not necessary if you plan to switch back to the free [example].wordpress.com domain, but it is necessary if you want to continue to use the imagesofdance.me domain name.

Many thanks for your responses. But my new domain .me is not working. Is it possible to change it to .com? Also, I would like to take part in the affiliation programme. Do you know how it works?

Your .me domain is working, you just need to set it as primary via Store -> Domains in your blog’s Dashboard.
