Domain Upgrades error message

  • Unknown's avatar

I am trying to log onto an account and I get this message: Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.

Not sure what to do. Any suggestions?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi –

What is the URL of the mapped domain?

  • Unknown's avatar

Same problem … my url is http://kindiecomm.org

    which kindiecomm.wordpress.com points to….

  • Howdy kindiecomm –

Your domain registration for kindiecomm.org is active but the mapping subscription which is through us at WordPress.com needs renewed.

Both of these things have to remain active in order for your domain kindiecomm.org to show your WordPress.com site.

The mapping can be added back to your account with these instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/ You’ll notice that it is not an individual upgrade, rather included with our plan upgrades. The features of each plan can be seen at wordpress.com/pricing/

Let me know if you have any other questions I can assist with!

I have the same problem. Does this mean that the domain is free but after some period of time I have to pay for an upgraded plan, beyond the “free” plan, to get domain mapping (whatever that is) so I can keep using it?

  • Hi victorylaphobbiescom – Can you let me know which domain you need help with? Domain mapping is an upgrade that needs to be renewed each year.

Our e-commerce site domain is victorylaphobbies.com. The blog functions (or is supposed to) as part of our web site to provide information to customers and others.

  • Good Morning victorylaphobbiescom –

victorylaphobbies.com is not connected to WordPress.com. It is not registered through us or mapped to a WordPress.com user account.

There are 2 versions of WordPress. What we do here at WordPress.com is different from the installation of the WordPress software that you use with a hosting company. This guide explains more about these differences: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Thank you for your response, but it still leaves me confused. All I know is that until recently the connection between our main web site and our WordPress blog page worked fine and now it doesn’t. I’m being told that I need to renew domain mapping. I just want step-by-step 1-2-3 instructions on how to get it working again. If that means I have to sign up for something we’re not presently signed up for, okay, but I just need to know how to do it.

    Thanks,

    VLH

  • To map victorylaphobbies.com to your WordPress.com account you’ll first want to select the best plan for your site. You can see each plan and it’s features at wordpress.com/pricing/ and you can add it to your account right from that page.

After you have added the account you’ll click on My Sites > Domains > Add > Map it.

These are the outlined instructions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/
