Domain verification

  • Unknown's avatar

End of December I bought a domain for my cousin (la-mediation-animale.com). In the contact details I put her address and email address. Unfortunately something went wrong in the verification process as it seems, since the domain has been suspended meanwhile. Neither me nor her could find any Email (not in the spam either) with a request for a verification. I tried to transfer the domain from my administrator’s account to hers on wordpress, but this did not help to solve the issue either.

I am really desperate. I have not found a possibility so far to get resend this request to verify the domain.

    Please help.

I’m having a similar issue. I can’t get WordPress.com to help me update the email on my domain so that I can verify it with ICANN. The method they told me to use generates an error. It’s been five days and I am beyond frustrated with this seemingly simple issue that MANY people have.

Sorry to hear this. Good to know, that I am not alone with this. I never experienced something like this so far.

    Hello!

    Thank you for reaching out.

When your domain gets suspended, it means the registry has paused your domain name because either you didn’t confirm your email address or the contact details for the domain were changed and still need verification. This applies to all gTLDs (like .com, .net, .org, .info, etc.).

This verification happens yearly to ensure your contact information remains accurate.

You have a 15-day period to verify your domain’s contact details. If you miss this window and don’t complete the verification, your domain name will be suspended. ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) oversees this process. You can find more information about it at https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/registrar-suspension-2017-06-20-en

Unfortunately, due to ICANN regulations, only the domain owner can update this information, so WordPress.com Staff cannot do it for you. For domains registered with WordPress.com, you can find instructions on updating this information at https://wordpress.com/support/domains/update-contact-information/#update-your-domain-contact-information

Regarding your specific case, @mokshaji, the verification email was sent to the account that owns the domain (which isn’t the one you’re currently logged into) five days ago. The subject line was “Verify your contact information for la-mediation-animale.com | Vérifiez vos coordonnées pour la-mediation-animale.com.” In case it was missed, I’ve resent the email from our system.

I hope this clears things up!

Thank you very much. I will ask my cousin again. Unfortunately, I can’t see from here what emails she is getting and if she is following the instructions correctly. In both of our WordPress accounts, I now at least see a prompt for verification with the option to resend the email, which was not the case before.

The link is still not working (domain still suspended) although we have followed the instructions and the request for verification in wordpress has disappeared.

The problem has been fixed. Since somebody from the wordpress team resend the verification mail and my cousin could react to it, the problem has been solved. Thank you.
