Domain whatabouttherest.com is not working.

    I registered it a few days ago. It indicated it should be ready to go very soon, it’s been days and is still not working. It shows in the WP admin, under my domains, but if I try to turn on locking or private registration, it fails. The domain helper reports that it’s both expired and not registered.

    One oddity: we registered it as part of signing up and purchasing the $99 upgrade. But it never showed up. So I registered it again a couple days ago through WP admin, which went fine, except that it still doesn’t work.

    The domain was not properly registered. Can you please registering it again?

    Thanks @pmciano. I just realized, when I saw the notice to look for the confirmation email, that maybe the domain/site owner didn’t confirm the registration via the email confirmation. I’m an admin on the site, but am just helping her out. I’ve redone the registration as you said. I’ll followup with them to ensure they confirm it.

    The registration was still not successful.

    Can you please have the WordPress.com user that actually owns the WordPress.com Premium Plan for this site register the domain?

    If she receives an error, please forward it to me, and I will further investigate the issue until it is resolved.

    Thank you for your patience.

    She’s not receiving the confirmation email. I assume that would cause this?

    We’re not seeing an error. Everything goes fine, but no confirmation email, and therefore (I assume) the registration never completes.

    Okay, I just tried again, using my own email address. It’s been 45 minutes now, and no email has arrived. I’ve checked spam, trash, and all mail just to be sure. It appears it’s just not being sent on registration, OR is somehow getting lost between the sending server and the receiving one (Gmail for mine, Yahoo for hers).

    @fiddlerstudios

    She is not receiving any notification because the domain was not registered under her user account. It was re-registered under your WordPress.com account, fiddlerstudios.

    Please make sure that the user is logged in with her own WordPress.com user account when she registers the domain. Once this is done, let me know, and if she receives an error as she tries to register it, please make note of it and pass it along.

    Why does it allow my account to do it, then, if that won’t work?

    Also, she actually registered it herself, when she very first signed up, and purchased the $99 upgrade. It was registered by her, with her account then, but the same thing happened: no email, and so the domain never got setup.

    @fiddlerstudios

    Since the other user actually owns the WordPress.com Premium Plan associated with this site, I have privately reached out to them, via email.

    Once they provide the requested information, I will register the domain for them.

    Thank you for your patience.

    She says she’s still not seeing any emails. I’ve sent her a link to this thread so she can comment herself. Hopefully she’ll comment soon. But if there’s anything else you can do, this has been going on for weeks now. And it’s not just an issue of me trying it. She did it herself as part of setting up the site initially, and purchasing the $99 upgrade. But it didn’t work that time either.

    To be clear: she’s not getting any emails from you, or from Godaddy/WP.com about the domain.

    Also, I will privately respond to you via email to confirm registration information before I continue to address this issue.

    You will hear from me soon.
