Domain with another provider

Hi, we are new to this and just wanted to see if we can start building our website before we transfer the domain over. The company that currently looks after this for us will eventually cease looking after this but in the meantime are we able to commence building while we arrange for this to occur?

You can start with a free WordPress.com website that uses a subdomain such as site.wordpress.com that will allow you to build your site and experiment with WordPress until you are ready to move your domain to WordPress.

You will need one of the paid plans that WordPress offers to be able to move your domain.
