Domain with Domain.com

I recently bought my domain at Domain.com and since I am setting up my business I do not want to have a high cost base. I was intending to use WordPress to create my website and load it on to the domain, seems like that is not possible without transferring or mapping the domain. Can you please help?
I also don’t want extra directives from one domain to another as that slows down the website access which loses customer attention. -

On WordPress.com, you can only use a custom domain if you have one of our paid plans listed here: https://wordpress.com/plans
Mapping and transferring the domain to us is the only option if you want your WordPress.com site to load on your domain. Mapping is essentially changing the nameservers of your domain to ours and “Connecting” it to your WordPress.com site, it I’m afraid there’s no other way to load your WordPress.com site on your domain without mapping or transferring it.

I’m not sure I understand this part correctly – can you shed some more light on what exactly you meant here, please?
