domain with the personal account

hello, I tried to set up my personal account last night and when it came time to pick my free custom domain name, the only one that was free was attached with wordpress.com. all of the others said I needed to upgrade to premium account. Can you please let me know if i read something wrong or if this is a mistake on your end. thank you so so so much :D

The personal plan is the lower cost plan.
You can use the Personal Plan, yes, but you need to add the plan first. If you add the domain first, Premium is selected automatically.
Go to My Site ->Plans and buy the Personal Plan, and then you can go back and claim your free domain at My Site ->Domains ->Add.
