Domain & WordPress site renewal, SSL cert

    Effective Aug 15, my domain registration expires. Also, my WordPress site, which I initiated through GoDaddy, expires. It looks like when I log into WordPress, I have a free site? GoDaddy is going to charge me $95 for the WordPress renewal alone. Also, I have an SSL certificate that is current until November.
    Can I avoid paying GoDaddy and does my SSL certificate transfer to my WordPress site, automatically, if I just login to my site from WordPress.com? Then, may I just renew my domain elsewhere to save $, as well? Does WordPress register domains?

    You need to renew your Domain, SSL, Hosting on the respective Service Providers. Also, if you get any problems your best place to get help is WordPress org Support

    The reason you get WordPress.com is as you might have connected your site using Jetpack, so you can log into WordPress.com and get the options of the plans, but your site is a purely Self Hosted site,

    This is what you see when signing in to WordPress.com. Your WordPress.com account is different from your self hosted WordPress account.

    pavanraheja has shared the details about the differences between WordPress.com and self hosted WordPress.

    To answer your question, YES, you can move your site to WordPress.com, but DO NOT let your domain expire. If your domain expires you may never get it back :( You’ll want to get in touch with GoDaddy for help with this renewal.
