Domaine mapping issue

    Hello everyone,

    I have a problem with my WordPress blog. The domain name is 66pelleport.wordpress.com.

    I have bought a domain which is 66pelleport.com and I would like this one to be the main one.

    Consequently, I have decided to use the domain mapping configuration for an existing domain.

    When I try to change DNS settings, WordPress tells me that the nameservers need to be changed in my registrar’s control panel like this :

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

    However, in my registrar’s control panel, an error appears which tells me that I first have to specify my DNS servers on WordPress control panel.

    I am blocked as WordPress needs the settings to be done with my registrar first, and my registrar needs the settings to be done with WordPress first.

    How can I do ?

    Hi there,

    I’m sorry to hear that you’re encountering this problem. You shouldn’t need to change anything on WordPress’ end in order to update your domain name servers at your registrar.

    Are you able to contact your registrar to explain that you’re simply pointing your name servers to a different host? They should be able to help you do this.

    If you need to add any custom DNS records at WordPress, you can do so by following the directions available here. However, you would need to be able to map your domain first in order for this to work correctly.

    Please keep us updated on the instructions that they give you.

    Thank you for your help, however I am still stuck with this issue.
    Here is what I wrote to my registrar (it is a translation from french to english) :

    “Hello

    I would like to point the DNS of the domain 66pelleport.com to WordPress hosts which are :

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

    When I try do this configuration, I receive an error message everytime I update a DNS :

    « No SOA record for this name sever ».

    Could you please tell me what to do to solve this issue ?

    Here is their answer :

    “This is because your domain is not registred in WordPress’ DNS servers. You have to contact them to see if there is a procedure to follow in order to register the domain in the dns servers… And then you will be able to do this configuration without any problem. “

    Do you think there is a solution ?

    That is very odd.

    A .com domain should never require a zone record to be set prior to nameserver change, but I have manually added a zone record for your domain.
