  Hello,

  We want to use wordpress and transfer our website currently hosted by Adobe System Software and keep the domain name carrenoir.com
  What do you advise us to do?

  Hello Morgane,

  Am a volunteer here too, but let me add some useful info to start with:

  I see your website is hosted on FASTLY and Adobe Portfolio is CMS (Content Management System): https://builtwith.com/carrenoir.com.

  First, you probably know that WordPress is a software which does not “live” in nowhere, it has to be hosted somewhere.
  WordPress.com is platform that offer users hosting + managed WordPress software. So we are now on WordPress.com forum.
  Here you can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/.

  Domain transfer to WordPress.com is possible, here is some info about domains https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/ and about domain transfer: https://wordpress.com/support/move-domain/incoming-domain-transfer/.

  Content transfer.
  That is the most difficult part. So far as I see here, there is no way to simply migrate from one platform to the other. So most probably you will have to create a new WordPress website from scratch. Here is a useful link how to start it: https://wordpress.com/support/start/

  I just want to add that we have a guide that can help you transfer your content to WordPress.com. Here it is:

  I know it’s a manual process, but at the moment there’s no automated way to migrate your content from the CMS you’re currently using.

  Thank you for your answers. After having read this information, our problem is the following: we want to keep the access to our current site before our wordpress site is ready and then migrate the domain name carrenoir.com

  Is this possible?

  For the content, we know that we will have to start from scratch.

  Hi Morgane,

  You can create a new WordPress.com site without transferring your domain, yes.

  All sites on WordPress.com get a free WordPress.com or .blog subdomain when the site is created, that functions just like any regular subdomain, and your site is fully online and accessible at that subdomain (provided you set it to public).

  So you can experiment and build your site at that free address, even upgrade the site while still using the free address, and only switch the domain over to us once you’re ready.
