domaine transfer

Hi
Why do you want me to transfer the domaine to WP? And why should it cost me 100 dollars a year not to transfer?
I was looking forward to working with WP and before I even get started I get nervous about your business intentions :-)

Hi there,
Are you intending to use WordPress.com, instead of the self-hosted version of WordPress?
If so, where are you getting the $100 figure from? Transferring or mapping a domain to WordPress.com requires a paid plan, the cheapest of which (in USD) is $48 a year, as that includes a domain credit: https://wordpress.com/pricing
There’s plenty of features offered on WordPress.com, but what exactly are you hoping to do? You could create a site for free now with a free “____.wordpress.com” domain, but unfortunately, it does require a paid plan to use your custom domain on WordPress.com.
Let us know if you have any further questions or issues. :)

Hi,
My dream is to make a really simple landing page which will be a sort of an ‘archive’. The previous page was for a small business I had to give up but on the other hand I would like people to be able to visit the domaine (which is my initials) and read about what has been and with a link to my current business.
Hence I would like to keep my domaine and combine it with a low cost and low maintenance site.
And sorry it wasn’t 100 dollars but 91 :-)

Hi there,
A potential reason for the pricing disparity is that you’re looking at prices in dollars, but perhaps not USD. The price at https://wordpress.com/pricing should be set to your currency, if it isn’t, please let us know if you wish for it to be updated.
You could make a simple landing page with several WordPress.com themes which are available for free. Feel free to check out if any of these interest you: https://wordpress.com/themes/free/filter/one-column
But if you’re intending to transfer your domain to WordPress.com, only to use that site to link to another website, that might not end up being the cheapest option (especially if you need another custom domain on the site you’re intending to link it to – you might just want to directly transfer your custom domain to that), but you can create a Landing Page on WordPress.com too: https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/landing-pages/
Hope this helps. :)

Hi again,
Thanks! I just bought the ‘personal’ package.
And I was hoping to build the landing page in Elementor. BUT it is not possible for me without a ‘business’ package(!!) I feel a little bit foolish having already paid and now I can’t build the way I thought.
The turorial on Elementor’s site didn’t mention you had to paid for a certain profile in order to get access to ‘add plugin’
Do you have any suggestions for me now?
-
Hi there,
If you’re wanting to use Elementor on WordPress.com, that would require the Business Plan, as plugins can only be installed with the Business Plan. If there’s something specific you’re wanting to do with Elementor, if you let us know we might be able to offer an alternative.
If this isn’t ideal for you, you might want to consider using the self-hosted version of WordPress rather than WordPress.com: https://get.wp.com
Regarding the Personal Plan you’ve purchased, I’d recommend not using your domain credit, as you only have 48 hours to cancel a custom domain and receive a full refund until you’re happy with your site. But you can cancel a paid plan within 30 days and receive a refund if you decide to use the self-hosted version of WordPress instead. :)

Hi Torres
Thanks again.
I will look into the self-hosted version (had no idea there was such a version available)
Another question: In my current business I have the Business Plan where I am able to use Elementor. So is it possible for me to make a landingpage from my paid business plan profile and then use it on my personal paid account?
That could be a great solution for me.

Hi, unfortunately not. Plans are per site, so if you wanted to use Elementor on two different sites, you’d need to pay for the Business Plan twice, even if it was the same account.
The only workaround for creating a Landing Page on the Personal Plan is by using the default features offered by WordPress.com which I linked to above. Sadly, there’s no way around that.
