Perhaps I misunderstand your intent, but if you are going to be using a custom domain with your Wix site, there is no advantage to registering a new domain name here on WordPressdotcom, which has to be done as a part of an upgrade plan, as opposed to registering a new domain name directly with any accredited domain registrar. https://www.icann.org/registrar-reports/accredited-list.html
