  I currently have a business website and domain and don’t want to transfer it until my wordpress site is done. How do I proceed?

  Hi lauraburgess8540,

  There are two types of WordPress: WordPress.com and WordPress.org (where the software is installed on a third party host). We have some information about the differences between the two here:

  WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

  On WordPress.com, you can start by creating a free site, adding or importing content and choosing a theme. The existing domain can be mapped or transferred to WordPress.com when you are ready to make the switch.

  If you decide to upgrade plans in order to access certain features like additional storage space, the domain credit can be left unused for now — a free address can be used until then.
