  Why can’t I add WordPress for the domain?

  If you want a free site here at WordPress.com and choose “Blog” you’ll be offered one of the newer free domains ending in .home.blog or similar. If you choose the next option down (“Business”) you’ll stand a better chance of the traditional option of a free site ending in .wordpress.com.
