  Can I build a site before I decide what domain to use?

  Hi there, you can build your website at the free WPcom website address you register when signing up. Depending on the features you need, you may need to purchase an upgrade plan to create the site you want, but you can put off buying a custom domain until you are ready to do so. You can see an outline of the WPcom plan features on the pricing page at https://wordpress.com/pricing/ and a fuller description at https://en.support.wordpress.com/plan-features/

  Registering a new custom domain is included for the first year of your upgrade plan. After that you will pay for your domain renewal and plan separately.
