  Hi! I am looking to open a wordpress.com website…in fact I started the process but then ran into a question concerning the domain.

  I own a domain name, I believe it is with 1&1. What I would like to do is finish opening my free website, if I am pleased then upgrade to the business account, the one for $8 per month. BUT my question is…. what is the cost of the domain name. It says it only includes 1 year with a domain. I would consider transferring my domain name to wordpress.com…but how much would it cost me to maintain it after the 1 free year?

  Yes, If you buy any of the paid plans you will get a domain free for one year.

  I would consider transferring my domain name to wordpress.com…but how much would it cost me to maintain it after the 1 free year?

  WordPress.com allows you to transfer or register a domain with the TLD’s mention on the page given below. If you are transferring one of them, so the price that has been mentioned of the domain TLD will be the renewal price next year.
