  My domain expired a few days ago. I wish to move my domain to wordpress but when I select “new domain” it tells me it is already taken, even though it is expired and I thought it would be available.

  How do I make wordpress my new host?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Hello there!

  When a domain expires, it is not immediately released by your domain registrar for purchase elsewhere. It could take up to several weeks for this to happen, or sometimes they’ll auction off the domain name.

  Once your original registrar releases the domain name, you can absolutely add it here in your Store in your Dashboard.

  You could try contacting your old domain registrar to try to expedite the domain’s release. Otherwise, it’s a bit of a waiting game.

  Of course, this may not be optimal, but if you’d like to adjust your domain name, you can certainly register a new one here.
