Domains and redirections
-
Hi all, I would need some help in clarifying how to do with my existing domain, which I purchased on another registrar. http://www.gruppoinsubrico.it/.
I see that I can map this to wordpress, provided I keep paying for the existing domain and I pay the small fee of 13$. OK.
In this way I will have to pay each year the 2 fees. So, I thought I could instead redirect the traffic from http://www.gruppoinsubrico.it/ to http://www.gruppoinsubrico.com, which I can buy from WP. In this way I pay the 2 domains for a while but then, once the SEO effect is over, I just keep the .com
Problem is that I am not sure, reading the support pages, if I can redirect 3rd party domains to a WordPress domain (from the document it seems you are talking about only WP domains..)
Could someone please let me know if I can do this much, redirect http://www.gruppoinsubrico.it/ to http://www.gruppoinsubrico.com (once I acquire that from you?)
Sorry if the question is silly, it is the first time I play around with domains, DNS and stuff…
Thanks everyone for the help! The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi consuelobirdlife,
Yes, you’ll be able to map gruppoinsubrico.it to your WordPress.com blog.
Essentially, all you’ll need to do is change the name servers at the company which registered gruppoinsubrico.it to the WordPress.com ones.
Here’s a link to a support article that shows you how you might be able to go about doing so:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/You should also know that the domain mapping upgrade is $13 per domain, so you’ll have to purchase it twice to map both gruppoinsubrico.it and gruppoinsubrico.com to your WordPress.com blog.
