Domains and subdomains
-
Greetings: I am a teacher investigating the best, and least expensive way, to create individual sites for each of my classes with URLs easy to remember. For example, I’d like to have a main domain such as example.com. Then, for each class, I want a subsite such as english8.example.com, writing8.example.com. However, I don’y have money to pay an annual fee for mapping subsites.
What I am looking to do is have my main domain example.com as a wordpress site. Then, create Google sites for each subdomain, thus avoiding the fee.
However, I need to know if I can register the domain through GoDaddy and then map the domain example.com to the wordpress site using an IP address instead of nameservers. I want to host the domain on godaddy so I can control subdomain mapping to the google sites.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi negadelphia,
You are only able to point map your domain to WordPress.com by changing your name servers.
However, you do have access within WordPress.com to then configure and point sub domains elsewhere.
Hope that helps.
