Domains Have somehow nested rather than remaining separate.

I began a premium subscription that started yesterday with a new domain, TheValue-Exchange.com, located at GoDaddy, and now on a WordPress server. I set it up as my primary domain, however, it seems to have nested up under another of my non-prmeium domains, AverageUp.com. They are separate domains and should each have their own blog etc. How to I get them to unnest?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Howdy blangsen,

If you’d like to use thevalue-exchange.com as a separate blog from averageup.wordpress.com, we’ll need to create a new *.wordpress.com blog and then I’ll transfer to the domain thevalue-exchange.com to that site. You can then manage both sites separately.

To create a second site under the same username, follow this guide:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/create-a-blog/#adding-new-blog-to-an-existing-account

Let me know when you have the second site created, and I’ll transfer your domain accordingly. Since you plan to use the custom domain, what you name this site is less important because readers will only see it if you decide to cancel thevalue-exchange.com. So really just choose a name that will help you distinguish it from averageup.

    Best,

    -Alex G.

Alex, I’ve added a blog the only way it would let me, as a wordpress free blog site.

Please go ahead and transfer my domain to this site.

    Many thanks

    Hi Bruce,

Yup! That free blog is what we needed. :)

thevalue-exchange.com now points to your blog at thevalueexchange.wordpress.com. This way thevalue-exchange.com is one site, and averageup.wordpress.com is another.

Let me know if you need any more help setting these up as you’d like.

    Best,

    -Alex G.

    Alex,

    1. now it keeps defaulting to the free site rather than the premium site “www.thevalue-exchange.com”. Should I do all my editing on the free site and it’s automatically updating the free site?
    2. I have both GIF and PNG graphics of my logo. However when trying to edit them I have been unable to move them into the header. Suggestions?
    thanks
    Bruce

    Hey Bruce!

    1. now it keeps defaulting to the free site rather than the premium site “www.thevalue-exchange.com”. Should I do all my editing on the free site and it’s automatically updating the free site?

I’m not sure I understand. When I visit your site, I see thevalue-exchange.com as the site address. Can you tell me what you’d like to see when you visit that URL?

    2. I have both GIF and PNG graphics of my logo. However when trying to edit them I have been unable to move them into the header. Suggestions?

I’m not sure I understand what’s happening here either. It look like you have two broken images in your Media Library. Can you try uploading those images again directly to the Media Library:

    https://thevalueexchange.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php

Hey Shawna, in terms of #1 I can get to the premium .com, but when I try go to the dashboard it immediately reverts to the “free” wordpress.com and thus I can do no development work.

In terms of #2, I’m not sure what “broken means but I will try and reload the images.

    Hi Bruce!

Thanks for the clarification! That’s the way that mapped domains work here at WordPress.com. Your admin pages will show the WordPress.com address. Any changes you make there will update the site that’s displayed at your custom domain. Does that clarify things?

Sorry for being unclear! Sometimes there’s a glitch with the connection when you’re uploading media and it causes images to display incorrectly in the Media Library. That’s what I’m seeing in your dashboard. If you upload them again directly to the Media Library, this will probably be resolved.

Let me know if you have other questions!

    two questions:
    1. I can not find “plug-ins” on my dashboard menu. Help
    2. My renewal date appears to be 9/26/2015 but I started on premium on 10/26/2014. Shouldn’t the renewal be a full 12 months?

    1. I can not find “plug-ins” on my dashboard menu.

It is not possible to install plugins on WordPress.com, for security reasons. Plugins can only be installed on self-hosted WordPress blogs. Here’s some information about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

Let me know what you’re trying to do and I can point you in the right direction.

    2. My renewal date appears to be 9/26/2015 but I started on premium on 10/26/2014. Shouldn’t the renewal be a full 12 months?

We attempt to renew Upgrades 30 days in advance of expiration so that we have time to contact you in case of any problem with the stored payment details.
Your renewal will be valid through Oct 26, 2015.

Let me know if I can help with anything else!
