Domain/Subdomain Mapping Failure. How can i map my blog to my STRATO domain?
-
I have a STRATO Domain “guerillaarchitects.de” and want to map it to my WP blog “guerillaarchitects.wordpress.com”. Unfortunately i can’t change the NS-Record of my domain (as described here http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/), but i can change the NS-Record of my subdomain.
That’s why I tried to redirect my domain to my subdomain (changed NS-Record) at STRATO and map my blog to my domain, but it didnt work so far.
Can I change my adress to my domain by mapping it to my subdomain!?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I’ve seen this issue before with STRATO domains. You can map a subdomain through this guide here.
We may need to add a CNAME record for the subdomain.
Each registrar has its own method of adding CNAME records. The important parts of this record are your subdomain and your original blog domain: guerillaarchitects.wordpress.com.
If you have already done this, it may take several hours for the changes to be recognized.
Once you’ve got the record set up, you can try switching to the subdomain by going to Store > Domains in your Dashboard.
Let me know if this works out :)

Hey,
It works to map my subdomain to my blog. But then i also got my subdomain “info.guerillaarchitects.de” as my blog’s new adress and i want it to be “guerillaarchitects.de”, which is not possible because i can’t map my domain to my blog (strato doesn’t allow me to change NS-Record).Mapping my subdomain to the blog and redirecting my subdomain to my domain didn’t work so far as well.
Now, Strato Staff just told me to point my domain to my WP blog by changing the A-Record. Thatfor I need the IP-adress of my blog! Where can I find it?
thank’s for your help.

Hi there,
Try these IP addresses here:
72.233.69.14
69.174.248.148
207.198.112.47Let me know if that doesn’t work!

Hey,
yes, thanks. The first IP adress worked! However my adress is still the old WP blog adress. Is there an opportunity to change it to my domain’s name without mapping (which still doesnt work)!?

Hi there,
No you would have to map it with the domain mapping upgrade to show your domain name instead of the URL with “.wordpress.com” at the end.

Hey,
well that’s the problem i described before. I can’t map my domain because i can’t change the NS record at Strato, so WordPress won’t find it and is still checking DNS.Since a couple of days, the IP adress you gave me doesn’t work anymore and my domain is no longer redirecting to my blog.
Any idea how I can point my domain to my blog and change my blog’s adress to “guerillaarchitects.de”?

Hi there,
The best way to map a domain to WordPress.com is by updating the nameservers to ours; however, if Strato requires that you create A records instead, please note that our IPs change over time. This can cause your domain to stop working at some point in the future just like it did recently. If that happens again, please get in touch with us to find out the most current IPs and then update your A records accordingly.
Please be sure to create at least two, pointing to two different IPs from the list below:
- 192.0.81.250
- 66.155.11.238
- 76.74.254.123
- 192.0.80.250
- 76.74.254.120
- 66.155.9.238
Cheers!
