I just bought my own domain for my wordpress.com blog. I thought upon doing this, I’d be able to completely adjust my blog and do everything I wanted my self. But after reading the differences, I guess what I’m looking for is a wordpress.org site. If I get a refund for my domain on wordpress.com, can I later use the same domain for wordpress.org? Or can I just leave my domain alone and transfer it to wordpress.org free of charge?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Amanda,
It would be best to keep your domain registered here and just find hosting. We have a list of recommended hosts here:
If you want to transfer your domain registration later you can after 60 days. Please note, ICANN (the governing body over domains) places a 60 day lock on all new domain registrations and renewals to prevent fraud. This is a requirement placed on all domain registrars, so there is no way to waive it.
Just note that your domain is registered through us and hosting elsewhere. So if you stay with us, please renew your domain with us every year.
You can find the difference between registration and hosting here:
This guide will step you through the process of moving your site to a WordPress.org (for free) instance:

As we only support sites hosted here at WordPress.com, all issues with the new site – including the importing of the file – must be taken to the WordPress.org support community:
If you’d like assistance moving your WordPress.com site to WordPress.org, we have a service called Guided Transfer that does all the work for you. Check it out to see if its right for you:
