    Hi. I have been receiving mails that my host payment is due. Somebody hacked my site and I fall into their trap. I paid, but later I found out it was a scam.

    I just forgot who my host is. Sorry. I am 75 years old. Please, help

    Hi there,

    Sorry to hear you paid someone other than the registrant (the place where you bought the domain) for the renewal. Domain registration is often public and unfortunately, this means that some bad actors take advantage of people who just want a website.

    If you haven’t done so already, I’d recommend not transferring the domain name as often the price is more expensive to renew at these types of registrars.

    With all that being said, let’s see if we can get you back on track. The public records for the domain show it was bought at Launchpad.com and renews on October 21st, 2018 with hosting at HostGator. Since you’re not hosted on WordPress.com we were unable to find the domain associated with your account.

    You are using the WordPress software, just the version from WordPress.org and not the version we run here at WordPress.com. Unforntatlly, this means besides what we can see in the public records we’ll be unable to help you further. Good luck with your domain renewal and if you get a chance I would also recommend turning on privacy protection although it may cost a couple of dollars extra.
