  Hi there I’m on https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/
  and trying to figure out where to add my paypal generated code to the “Donate” button code in a text widget. The above support page tells you exactly where to add your link for the “buy now” button which works – but not the donate button.
  eg.
  <img src=”https://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_buynow_LG.gif” alt=”Buy Now Button” />

  but I prefer this button

  <img src=”https://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_donate_LG.gif” alt=”Donate Button” />

  which has a lot less and different characters and I don’t know where to place my link within it.

  I’ve tried pasting my link directly before the <imgsrc=” but it doesn’t work. and i realise that the code has changed now that ive posted the question

  See here https://en.support.wordpress.com/paypal/ to create a blog specific paypal button on a wordpress.COM hosted blog and know that there are no other instructions that will work. You must follow the instructions religiously.

  Hi there,

  This is the code to use for a Buy Now button, as mentioned on the PayPal support page:

  <a href="YOUR-LINK-HERE"><img src="https://www.paypalobjects.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_buynow_LG.gif" alt="Buy Now Button" /></a>

  If you prefer the Donate button, you can replace the Buy Now image code with the Donate image code, like this:

  <a href="YOUR-LINK-HERE"><img src="https://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/btn/btn_donate_LG.gif" alt="Donate Button" /></a>
