Donate without needing a WordPress account?
-
We want to add a donate form to our site, but according to WordPress documentation about the Donations Form Block, a WordPress.com account is required for the donor to submit funds to our organization. Is there a way around this? I do not understand why WordPress would require our visitors to have an account?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey there,
To check, are you looking to add this onto c4psl.org?
If yes, it looks like this is a selfhosted WordPress site, which would be separate to WordPress.com.
To explain, there’s two types of WordPress. The first is WordPress.com, where we provide daily backups, automatic updates, a 24/7 support service and an optimised version of WordPress. The second is self-hosted WordPress, where the free open source version of the software is installed onto a serve.
More on the differences can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
It’s possible to migrate the site over to WordPress using our migration plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpcom-migration/ and the site would need to be on the business plan.
I hope this helps.

Hey there,
Sorry for the misunderstanding there!
Are you referring to the following:
A WordPress.com account is required to donate through the Donations Form Block. If a visitor doesn’t have an account yet, they will be prompted to create one.
-
Yes, I was referring to that statement. I would like to hear from others if they used a workaround for their visitors? Some visitors may not be willing to create a WordPress account just to make a donation. I know that PayPal allows you to make a donation without requiring a PayPal account. Is PayPal the only solution to this issue?

Hi there!
We do need a WordPress.com account for anyone paying you using our Payments button (which includes the Donation button). As you mentioned, you can consider using a PayPal button instead.
We have a Pay with PayPal block, but it’s designed to collect payments for products. Please give it a try, and if you prefer a different format, you can create a donate button directly on PayPal’s website and use the code on your site. We have specific instructions for you to follow on this page to create a PayPal donate button for your WordPress.com site.
Let us know if you need more help with creating/inserting the button from PayPal. We’ll be happy to assist further.
Regards
