Don’t know my Username so can’t log into WordPress Support

  • Unknown's avatar

I have had a WordPress/Blue Host website since November. (I started it through a travel blogging website and paid someone on Fiverr to create it for me).

I can’t figure out how to log into WordPress support. I have the username and password for both Blue Host and my website, but not for WordPress.

When I try to contact WordPress support, they want my username and password. I don’t have a username, so clicking Forgot Password will not work.

Before I had a website I created a WordPress account. It will not let link my website. It wants me to create a new website. (Once I figure out how to access my correct account I need to correct this one – can’t figure that out either).

There is no way to contact WordPress without a username so I am stuck. When I am in my website and click on WordPress and directs me to the login screen. Since I don’t have a username I’m stuck.

  • Hi there,

I do not see any sites under your @mamakimsrescue WordPress.com account when I check on our end. You can confirm by visiting this page: https://wordpress.com/sites.

Is it possible you created your site under a different login?  Is it the case that you are using another provider like GoDaddy, Bluehost, Hostgator, etc. instead? What is the URL of the site you are needing help with?

Happy to check in our system so we can take a closer look.

    Hi Jerry,

Thank you for your quick response!

This entire process is extremely frustrating for a non-technical person. All I want to do is write blogs! I hired someone to create my website but still find myeself desperately needing/trying to learn WordPress.

I’m positive my website is WordPress on Blue Host. I signed up through Goats on the Road and hired a developer on Fiverr.

My website is mamakimsrescuetravel.com. I make edits at https://mamakimsrescuetravel.com/wp-admin

The WordPress “account” I am writing you from needs to be deleted. (How do I do that BTW? I can’t figure it out). I opened it before I decided to hire someone to create my website. It does not led me add my website; it only gives me the option to create a new website.

So I need to open (or retrieve the username and password) for the WordPress acccount associated with my website. I am too detailed to not have added it to my password page, but perhaps that is the case??? (I have the passwords for Blue Host and to edit my website).

I then need to delete the WordPress account that I am currently writing you from.

And can you please tell me what level account I have? I’m trying to see if I quallify for live chat.

We are currently comminicating on a “forum” right? I’m surprised to get an answer from a WordPress staff member. I thought only other users reply to fourm questoins. Part of the reason I am trying to access my account is to see if I qualify for live chat.

Since I am writing you from an “account” that has no website attached to it (and therefore I have not paid any money on) I did not think I was going to be able to reach a staff member. (Which means I was going in circles trying to get help).

  • Hi there,

Your site is not hosted by us (WordPress.com). It is using the open-source WordPress software and as you mentioned it’s hosted by Bluehost. Therefore, you need to contact them regarding your login issue.

You can also try resetting the password by following these instructions:

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password

We’re only able to provide support for WordPress websites that are hosted by us. For help with your site you need to ask over at the WordPress.org forums:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and the open-source WordPress software you can read this article:
