  1. Domain Transfer –
  Transferring a domain means your domain registration and billing will be moved from your current domain provider to WordPress.com. That means in the future you’ll manage all aspects of your domain here, including renewal, cancellation, or a future transfer.

  2. Domain Mapping –
  Domain mapping means you keep the domain registered with the company you purchased it from (the domain’s registrar), but point the domain here so it loads your WordPress.com site. You will still need to pay the current registrar to keep the domain active every year, and some domain settings and configurations will need to be made with them.
