Don't know user name or password!

Hi. A friend of mine is trying to take over an old blog started by a co-worker. However, we don’t have any of the login information and can’t get a hold of the former co-worker. Is there anyway to get this information? Or reset it but keep all the information on the blog?

The blog belongs to the original person who created it (the admin) and WordPress will not hand over a blog to someone else. Nor will they give away information such as log in details to someone else. You will need to contact the original admin and ask him/her to transfer the blog over, or to give the username and password to you.

That’s the only thing you can do i’m afraid. But make sure they don’t delete the blog as that will mean the URL will be gone for ever and you can’t get it back.

If you are able to contact the blog owner and they are amenable to handing the blog over to you then they can invite to become a new Administrator http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator of the blog you want transferred to you and use this process to transfer the blogs to your username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
