Don’t know which email is associated with my blog

    Hello Team,

It has been over 10 years since I logged into the blog I had setup. I do not recall the email address I used for it. After clicking the ‘Forgot Password’ link, I checked all my emails and spam folders and did not see any email in them. At this point, I am quite confident that I no longer have access to that email address either.

What are my options to recover access to this blog post? What options do I have to verify that I am indeed the owner of the blog I am trying to access? I do not have any of the three methods mentioned in the Account Recovery Form.

    Thanks,

    Abhiram

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We are not able to help here in the support forums, as verifying account ownership requires us to ask you to provide info that is best not shared in this public venue.

With this in mind, please fill out this form here to the best of your ability: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

This will send all the info you have to our account recovery team, and from there they will contact you directly to assist you in regaining access to the account that owns the site you are trying to access.

Thanks for your quick response. As I had mentioned in my initial post, I do not have any of the three proof of verification options available so I’m unable to submit the form. If the form would let me submit without entering that information, I would do that. Is there a way I can submit that form without the verification information to start a private discussion?

    Hi there,

Those are the only forms of proof we accept in cases where you have lost access to a site. If you do not have the info to fill out the form, we would not have a way to restore your access. You may wish to review our tips here for locating the required proof, to see if you are able to find something you can use: https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/#account-recovery-form

Thanks again for your response. I don’t think I’m the only one to find myself in a situation like this where an old blog has become inaccessible because more than a decade has passed. Even if you weren’t able to restore access to the blog, how can I have it taken down? I was asking for access so I could delete the content.

Hi! We have a little information about that in the account recovery guide:

At some point, you may run into a situation in which you’ve lost access to your account. We want to ensure that you take the necessary steps to avoid getting locked out and set up your WordPress.com account to be recoverable. Just to be sure – is this blog associated with the account you are posting from (username: abpaws), or with a different account? If it is associated with this account, you’d normally have access to manage it under the My Site button when you’re logged in on WordPress.com.

It is not related to this account. I created this account to be able to create a post and start this discussion.

The account recovery guide asks me to provide a verification that I own the blog I’m referring to. Unfortunately, I don’t have any of the three methods described there. I’m writing to ask if there’s another way I can prove I’m the same person that owns the blog (the other one, not the one associated with this user ID)

    Hey there,

Many thanks for reaching back out.

It is not related to this account.

To check, do you know the username and email address connected to the account?

What are my options to recover access to this blog post?

Also, to double check, do you have access to the link to this post?

    Many thanks in advance.

I know the username. I do not know the email address.

I’m not sure what you meant by your second question so let me try providing a few different answers:

    1. I do not have access to make any changes to the blog because I don’t know what my login credentials are. Like I mentioned above, I know the credentials for the account I’m using to create this post (abpaws) but do not know the credentials for the other account (abhiram3108). I created this new account (abpaws) just so I could start this conversation.
    2. I do have access to the Account Recovery link. I’m unable to submit that form because I don’t have data for any of the three verification options

    Thanks for your time!

    Hey there,

Many thanks for that additional information – rest assured it’s all useful!

I’m not sure what you meant by your second question

So you mentioned you’re looking to recover a particular post, do you have a link to this post?

Or are you looking to restore a whole blog?

    Speak soon!

I want to be able to recover access to the entire blog.

    Link to the blog: abhiram3108.wordpress.com

That’s the one I had created more than 10 years back and haven’t accessed it since. And I’m not sure I have the email associated with that blog anymore.

    Hi there!

Thanks for sharing the site address. Since you don’t remember the email address used on the other account, you’ll want to contact our account recovery team so that they can look into this for you. You can email them directly at this address: passwordhelp@wordpress.com. Please include a link to the blog so that they know which account you’re trying to access.

We are unable to help with account recovery in the forum, but our account recovery team will assist you via email.

    Thanks!
