Everytime i go on WordPress i am making a blog which i dont want to do. I want to make a website. Can someone guide me how to make a website with WordPress

Hi there. A blog is a website, but a specific type of website that focuses on dynamic content, i.e. posts. You want a website that focuses on static content, i.e. pages.

Something like a “Latest News” section, or posts featuring your products/services.

Easiest way to quickly learn how everything works is to work through the “Learn WordPress” support doc (http://learn.wordpress.com/) and the “Video Quick Start” tutorial (http://en.support.wordpress.com/video-quick-start/). I suggest you do that before you proceed any further. Things will be much easier if you do.

However, if you want to include stuff like having advertising on your site or have an area where users can log in, etc., then you need to look at a self-hosted site using WordPress.org. I won’t recommend that for a complete beginner, though.

I’ve never worked on WordPress.org myself, but yes, you have to do a lot of stuff there yourself that is done for us on WordPress.com. On a self-hosted site you’re responsible for your own security, backups and maintenance. If your site gets hacked, you have to fix it yourself, etc. You also have to pay for a domain, hosting, bandwidth, etc., so it will cost you quite a bit of money, depending on your host.
If that’s what you want to do, I recommend you find a good book on building a WordPress.org website, and otherwise look at their forums and support pages: https://wordpress.org/support/

Affiliate programs are allowed, it’s just not allowed to be the ONLY thing on your site. See here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/affiliate-links/

I have no experience with other blogging platforms besides WordPress.com and for self-hosted sites I already told you you should ask over at WordPress.org.

Why don’t you rather focus on building a site and filling it with content? With no content and no followers you will be making no money, no matter how many monetization options you have. Blogs don’t just magically make money. It is very hard work to have a successfully monetized blog, and chances are you’ll be spending a lot more money on hosting than you’ll ever make through affiliate links and advertising.

All the ways I know of to earn money via blogging are in the various links I gave you above. I don’t have any suggestions beyond those.
