Dont understand plugins, downloaded one from wordpress.org

Hello,
I’m not very good with website building and trying to use wordpress for the first time. I’m wanting to change fonts and such on wordpress.com site Im trying to set up. I read about how plugins arnt able on this, but joined wordpress.org and found a plugin for what i would like, am I able to transfer it over as its downloaded from wordpress? If not can you advise how i can change fonts and such without a plugin?Thanks
