Don't want blog posts on my home page
-
I’m a total newbie so I appreciate everyone’s patience in advance.
I created a page called “Blog” which as the name implies, I want to house my blog. However, if I enter a post through “Blog Posts” through the “publish” section of “My Sites”, it shows up on my home page. How do I get blog posts t show up in the blog menu?
thanks,
CurtThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. First, if you haven’t yet, create another static page that will be your blog’s landing page. Also make sure that the Blog page is published, but that it doesn’t contain any other content.
Then, under Settings ->Reading in the classic WP-Admin dashboard, you set the static page as your home page and the Blog page as your posts page. This will automatically move your main feed to the Blog page. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/
You don’t need to assign your posts a “Blog Posts” category, as they will automatically appear on that page. Use categories to sort your posts according to content.
If you haven’t yet, you may want to work through the “Learn WordPress” support doc (http://learn.wordpress.com/) and the “Video Quick Start” tutorial (http://en.support.wordpress.com/video-quick-start/). Also see this article for having posts from a specific category appear on their own page, in case you’re interested in doing that: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/06/30/posts-on-pages/

Can you please be more specific. Which featured image do you want to change? If it’s for a specific post/page, please provide the URL.
Note that featured images which you upload in the post/page editor are only available on individual posts and static pages. Category pages, archive pages, search results and I think also the blog page (that is, the one showing all your posts) don’t show a featured image, but only your blog’s custom header.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/The custom header you change under Appearance ->Customize ->Header.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/custom-header-image/Also make sure the image you’re trying to use is big enough. For your theme the featured image (if you want it to serve as a header image on individual posts) must be 1280 by 416 pixels big. If it’s smaller it might not display, even if you have it set as the featured image.

Genius? No. Just a bit more experienced than you :)
I see you now have a different header on each page. The page you link above now have a face on a black background. Is that what you wanted?

Yes it is. Now I’m trying to add social media share buttons to each post. If you can point me in a direction….
thanks,

Again on the WP-Admin dashboard: Settings ->Sharing. Full instructions here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/
Note that if you pick the “official buttons” you’ll get a Facebook like button. To have a Facebook share button, pick one of the other button styles.
If you prefer to use the official buttons, see here how to add a Facebook share button manually: http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/12/06/its-possible-facebook-share-and-like-buttons-at-the-same-time-update-wordpress-com-forums/

Once you have set up the sharing buttons you can enable/disable them per post or page via the sharing module in the editor or via the quick edit function on the All Posts and All Pages page in the classic dashboard.
