Don't want reply box on home/static page & where is the slide show feature
-
1.)I have a reply box on my static page that I don’t want. I have unchecked all the comments boxes that I can find and it is still there. If this can’t be removed, is there a theme which doesn’t have one? Rachel tried to help.
2.) The reason that I chose the theme that I chose is because a. it was free and b. it claimed to have a slideshow option. I can’t find how to activate that either and when I think I’ve added an image, all that happens is that the header changes.
Help and thanks in advance for your time.

Howdy! Welcome to WordPress.com
For issue 1: In addition to the default settings in Settings->Discussion, each page or post independently can have comments enabled or disabled. If you had created the page prior to changing the default setting, you can change it by editing the post itself and unchecking the comments option.
Here’s a screenshot: http://d.pr/i/pqEJ
If that doesn’t appear for you, you may need to click the Screen Options in the upper-right of the page when editing the post to enable the Discussion module. Screenshots of that can be found here: Screen Options
For issue 2: For the slideshow, there are a few settings to change to get it going.
- We need to enable “Latest Posts” on the home page, instead of a static page. You can change this at the top of Settings->Reading: https://eveeveflovt.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php?settings-updated=true
- The text on the home page would be what is on the Appearance->Theme Options page: https://eveeveflovt.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=theme_options
- To create the slideshow, you would need to create a post for each item in the slideshow. Perhaps, you could use this as a portfolio of weddings you’ve worked as well. When adding a post, insert a large picture in the post (at least 950 pixels by 425 pixels).
- Once published, the slideshow will display the first image in each post, up to 10 (based on your current settings).
We do it this way, instead of via a page, since the code creating the homepage is overridden when choosing a static page instead.
Please let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything else we can do for you!
