don't want to renew my domain

  Hi,

  I recently received an email stating that my account would be automatically renewed at the cost of $17 for the upcoming year. I don’t want to renew my account or continue using the domain name, however each option I try on deleting it says I can’t delete it if it’s due for upgrade or that i can only do this within 2 days of purchase. I don’t use this website anymore, it was for a college project so I don’t want to carry on paying for something that is not of any use to me or anybody else, and just want rid of it. Could you please help me further with this? My domain name is: thenorthernguide.com and it is due for renewal by the 26th of April so would like this to be solved and deleted by then.   Auto-renew has been disabled on the domain, so it will now expire on May 26, 2012.
