Don’t want to show my comments

  I like to show the most recent comments using the comments widget in the sidebar, but don’t want MY comment responses to show. Otherwise, it looks like all the comments are from me! Is it possible to show JUST the readers comments?

  Hi. Unless another volunteer has a brilliant idea, I think it shows the comments made by everyone. Your comments are as valuable as your readers’ comments, I guess. And look at it on the bright side: it will show that you care about your readers and that you respond to them.

  Just edit their comments and reply within the comment itself. Put it in square brackets, so it’s clear this is your response.

  Mind you, I don’t like that. It makes people think you haven’t replied to them, because they can see in the sidebar that theirs is the last comment.

  I came here to ask the same question as jschweon so if anyone knows of a way to limit the recent comments to other people’s, or even eliminate pingbacks etc I would really appreciate it!

  That’s easy: under Settings->Discussion, you can disable pingbacks. I answered the first request in the comment right above yours.
