Double account issue!

hi there, Yesterday I was trying to set up a website and exploring the different possibilities. At one point I was approaching it from the WordPress site but hadn’t committed to anything. I had used my e mail address. Anyway, I then signed up through Bluehost. Now it appears I have two WordPress accounts. one of which I don’t need that is asking me to pay a yearly fee. can you advise how to close this site. it says if I do, then I wont be able to use WordPress from my e mail address for 30 days. Hope this makes some sense. This is all new to me!

  • Howdy –

Sure thing. I’ll try to clear up some of the confusion.

So, there’s 2 versions of WordPress. What happens here at WordPress.com is a managed hosting environment. We take care of the nitty gritty details that it takes to have a successful site. That frees you up to focus on your content and message.

When using the open source WordPress.org software, you are responsible for all those details. It’s much more hands on and technical. You have to use a hosting provider (like blue host).

    Check out this page: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

This is also the getting started materials for both versions. Look them over. Before we go any further let’s make sure you’re picking the right option for your skills, experience, and project.

I’ve reviewed your WordPress.com account here. There have not been any purchases made. The other WordPress account you have is for WordPress.org – these are 2 different accounts, on 2 different things.
