Double Username and Old blog

Okay. I am happy to say that I think I am slowly beginning to understand this website. I have two questions: I deleted my blog to start all over again and I am contented with the new blog. However, the picture for my username, when I point to it, the drop down menu is showing two user names instead of one (both the same). How do I correct this? My second question is, if I am visiting the section where you can see your New Post, Reader, Freshly Pressed, Topics, My Blogs, My Stats and My Notifications; if I click on My Blogs, I am seeing my old blog which was deleted. Why isnt my new blog being registered under My Blogs? Here is a link:

    I hope I did this correctly…………………

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

First off, nobody can see your homepage other than you and anyone you’ve authorized in your account. So giving a link to your ‘my blogs’ page won’t be of any use to anyone on the forum other than staff, and most of the people who respond to questions here are volunteers.

Next, if ‘Special Spice’ is your blog, then you’ve written the URL incorrectly. It should be:

    http://specialspice.wordpress.com

unless you have your own domain, in which case you’d leave off the ‘wordpress’ and instead have .com or whatever you’ve chosen for it.

I’ve just been reading your queries up to now (you can find them by clicking on the ‘member’ (or occasionally ‘inactive’) below your username in the forum, which will take you to your forum profile: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/profile/theslysilverfox
and I think you’d find it easier to learn how to use your blog by consulting the support documents that can be found here:

    Home

If you can’t find what you want, then ear the top of that page, you’ll see a search field. Type a keyword or two or a short phrase in there that relates to the question you want to ask and a page of links to relevant help pages will come up.

You can also get to the support page (and these forums) by going to your dashboard and looking at the links right at the bottom of the page. They are also accessible at the bottom of any forum page, too.

    Take your time.

I only started using WordPress yesterday. I spent the whole of today and half of yesterday, reading all the tips and info WordPress has to offer. This website is not very user friendly and this is why I am asking so many questions…………………

Have you made any posts in your new blog yet?

    Have you read http://learn.wordpress.com ?

Yes I posted just the first page today and I did read the info on the link, which was sent to me right after I registered. Very happy and proud of myself. It’s been a long and tiring journey but worth it!

@theslysilverfox – my apologies. I was having a very ‘only human’ day yesterday (and am continuing in much the same way today) after not having had enough sleep the night before and was trying to steer you in the direction where you’d not have to rely on us here in the forums for help. Normally I do give more direct help. Nearly everyone who helps on these forums (self included) is ‘just’ a volunteer. Staff come along occasionally.

Anyway, well done for how far you’ve come in such a short time! :)

Absurdoldbird, please no need to apologize. I know that it must be very annoying to seeing me asking so many questions. By the way, your posts are very informative and very helpful! I do enjoy reading them! I wish I had someone next to me to explain everything to me. It took me 1.5 days to read and try to understand WordPress. But there is so much I just cannot compute!

You see, I was formerly with Blogger and a friend said that WordPress was a better site. But it is so complicated for me. Blogger, everything was so simple and straightforward. Sorry if this sounds like complaining but it’s how I feel…………….

But on a brighter note, I published my first post and do you know what? I feel so proud of myself! Thanks again for your patience and kind assistance!

    Congratulations!

Part of the reason you’re having problems is, you already learned a system. This system is completely different. In a sense, total beginners have an advantage because they don’t think they know how blogging works, and the people who built WP.com think very differently than the people who built Blogger. You’ll get used to it in a couple of months.

You’re welcome and if it’s any consolation, I came here from LiveJournal via Blogger and I couldn’t get to grips with Blogger at all, I found it incredibly unintuitive! (And buggy).

I’ve been blogging here (well, til recently anyway) since September 2009 and it took me weeks to get to grips with the site.

Raincoaster, I guess when I joined here, I expected the system to be simple and easy to learn like Blogger.

Absurdoldbird, thanks for sharing that! Makes me feel a lot better.
