Double username problems

A blog I read implemented a new registration system. It wasn’t until I had signed on with a different user name than I use here that I realized they were using Word Press to register people. I went to change things back…to start over…but by then the page kept on telling me “error there is already a username assigned to this email account”. It just became an endless circle to the point where I can’t use either username b/c it kicks me out. If I had known the blog was using Word Press I would have signed in with my Word Press username and not created another one. *sigh* My Word Press Username is maggycast associated with the email (email visible only to moderators and staff). But now it says my username is MMC for the same email with some assigned password. The blog I’m reading won’t let me access my account on it’s page. So I’m basically now not able to comment. That is not a WordPress.com blog. Registration there has nothing whatsoever to do with registration here. You would have to create a username/password combo for that blog regardless of whether you have a WP.com account or not.

I would agree but when I registered it immediately linked me to Word Press. When I tried to log in with my current Word Press account it refused me b/c I now was using two usernames for one email. I know it’s messed up. I emailed the blog owner about it. Hopefully he can shed some light:+) Thanks for the response!

I often get email notification that I have a new user registration on my site and it shows the username and email address…
Can someone let me know what that means? If people are able to access my site (as an admin), then I’d need to know how I could set some private settings…

It means YOU have a WordPress.org site and need to be at WordPress.org for help with that version of the software.

You go to their support forum, register, search the forum to see if anyone has already asked that question, and if not, you ask it. I guarantee that dozens, if not hundreds, of people have asked that question.

@maggycast – The forum at http://www.harvestingthefruit.com/forums/ is completely separate from your WordPress.com account. I’m afraid I won’t be able to help with your username/password there since it is not affiliated with WordPress.com.
@marifukuda – Are you referring to your blog marifukuda.com? If so, that site is indeed self-hosted. You can find support for self-hosted sites here:

Are the notifications you’re receiving potentially new follower notifications (not new users)? Followers receive updates of your posts through email.

Jeremy- thanks for the help:+) I would agree that Word Press and Harvesting the Fruit are supposedly different. Yet the reality of it refusing me b/c I already had an email address signed up with them says otherwise. *sigh* And also that as soon as I registered on the site it linked me directly to WordPress. Usually these forums have their own registration apparatus…but it used Word Press in some way and that messed me up. I think I’ve circumvented the issue by changing the email address of my previous WordPress username. Hope it works:+) Thanks again for the help! God bless~
