Downgrade Site
-
Hello,
I am looking at upgrading my WordPress site to one of the premium options as I’ve run out of storage space (thanks to a rookie move as I uploaded extremely large photos when I first started out). However, I was wondering what happens if in a year from now, I decide to not continue my subscription. Other than losing my domain, what happens to my site if I’m over my storage capacity?
Thanks!

Hi Natasha,
Based on the information from this post I found from earlier this year (https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/i-have-ran-out-of-photo-space?replies=3), you will not lose what you have already uploaded. You will not be able to add any additional uploads at that point.
If you have other curiosities about what happens if you don’t renew, see how this FAQ might answer your questions: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/faq-renewing-and-canceling/
Come back with any additional questions you have!
Take care and happy photo uploading!

Thanks Jesse — you are correct.
Natasha, you probably already know this, but just in case: you’ll want to be sure to keep media items in your library. Sometimes folks will delete those thinking they’ll free up space, but it makes them stop working on the site, too.

Thank you both so much!
@jessestu – Thanks – I tried searching for this before posting but couldn’t find anything so thank you for sharing the related link!
@supervoia – thanks! I also made this mistake! A few months ago I tried to deleted photos that I thought weren’t tied to a post, but they unfortunately were.
