Downgrade site if original account owner is unavailable
-
I’m looking to shut down my website; it was started over 10 years ago by someone who has long since left the company. WordPress will only let her make changes to the plan, but I’m not even sure where she is, and her old email has been shut down. Has anyone else ever had this issue? I tried removing my card from payment methods, hoping that it would automatically downgrade if it failed to get a payment, but I just got an email notice that the account is set to renew in 30 days, and it said it would automatically charge the card I had removed (it included the correct last 4 digits).

Hi,
Thanks for the detailed explanation. I’ve called for staff attention to this topic. Staff will respond here.

It is the site owner who can make changes to the purchase and stored payment details on the site, as this is one of the limitations of an administrator role. Since you do not want the purchase on the site to renew, I have disabled auto-renew on the active plan. The plan will now expire after the subscription period ends and will no longer be renewed.
