I would like to try the Starter Plan but would like to know if I can return to free WP site if the paid plan is not what i need.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes, you can downgrade later on if you decide you don’t need the benefits of the paid plan.

Hi @niagaratours1
You also have a 14-day period to ask for a refund after purchasing an annual plan (7 days for a monthly plan)

thank you for your reply although it does not answer my concern:
once I switch back from a paid WordPress plan back to a free WordPress website, what domain name will my free website have? Will I be able to choose my own domain name for the free WordPress website once I switch back to the free version, such as: mydomainname.wordpress.com

Hi,
Your free WordPress.com URL will remain the same. This is where your content is actually stored, independently of the custom domain you attach to the site.
If you purchase a paid plan and a custom domain for your current free site tourniagara.wordpress.com, your site’s URL will be changed to the new custom domain name.
Once your domain expires, your site’s URL will be reverted to tourniagara.wordpress.com.
Hope this helps!
