Download After Submitting Email

  Hello Forum,

  Please forgive my ignorance.

  I want my user to download a PDF only after they submit there email address.

  How it is possible.

  Hey bot,
  You knew that I am new bee, If I had answers to all your questions, would I be here :). Now please step aside and leave a great volunteer to answer my question.

  I have seen almost on all the sites, A person sharing a document ask you to submit your email address, as soon you submit your email, you see the download link or you are directed to the download page.

  Thanks for the response. Actually I don’t have a blog yet but will be up very soon. But before it’s up, I wanted to know the stuff in advance.

  I have an ebook that I want to share with my users but require an email to download the ebook.

  How is it done in wordpress.com or on my own hosting.

  If you have your own hosting, you’re in the wrong forum and need to be at WordPress.ORG instead, as our answers apply only to the customized software used at WordPress.COM. You are going to have to make the .org or .com decision before anyone can help you solve this.

  Thanks raincoster for the time and reply.

  If it can be done in wordpress.com then I may not go for hosting but if it’s hard in wordpress.com then I will go for wordpress.org.

  It can be done. The solution is to have a page for ordering the ebook which is actually a Contact Form. They have to ask through the contact form for the book, and then you will have their email address. Email them the book, rather than allow them to download it. Simpler. There are ways to get them to download the book, but they’re all much more complicated. That’s easier.

  By the way I don’t want to be involved. I just want them to enter the email and get the pdf… I would love if you could point me to the complicated way as well in wordpress.com and wordpress.org..

  The explanation for WordPress.org can be obtained from WordPress.org. Maybe some other volunteer will step in and answer your .com question, but I think I’m done for tonight.
