  I am looking for a straight link, when you click on the text it begins a download of a specified file on to your computer. This: http://en.support.wordpress.com/uploading-documents/ will only embed the file in the post or page and if you make a link it simply opens it in its own page. I want a link that works the same as if you click the “Save as” button on an image.

  Hey Kyle,

  That behavior is up to the browser—whether it tries to download the image or simply plays it within the browser. There are some hokey ways around it, but that can break a lot of other things, so we don’t force behavior against the user/browser’s wishes.
