Download link leads to page not found

I use elementor and had created a download link by inserting a text box, used the add media button to create a link to a PDF in my media library and it worked fine. Then I wanted to change the PDF so I deleted the original text box, inserted a new one and once again used add media to create a link to the new PDF. Now it gives me a page not found message: “This page doesn’t seem to exist. It looks like the link pointing here was faulty. Maybe try searching?”

I’ve already tried going to the permalinks section in settings and clicked the save changes button, to no avail. What else can I do?
