download plugins WordPress

trying to download Page Builder by Siteorigin. I run an iMac. I can find no explanation as to why when I click on download at the Siteorigin website it goes to my desktop (zip file). Then I click on the zip file siteorigin-installer-master.zip and a folder appears with a bunch of files. No install file. I go to My Site and I see NO place to install new plugin. Am also VERY confused about the switching between WordPress.com and WordPress.org also. Various Youtube video don’t explain the first step as to how to get to the window that lists plugins on the left column which I should be able to click and download plugins like in the videos. All the Siteorigin guide says is to ‘download plugins like all your other plugins!!!!!’ No help as how to do the FIRST steps. Any help?

Fear not! You are not the only one confused on the difference. Here is an easy comparison.
Unfortunately, plugins cannot be installed on WordPress.com. It includes the most popular plugin functionality within our sites automatically.
To install other plugins for additional functionality that would be when you would go to WordPress.org and install WordPress via a third party host.
I believe the dashboard you are looking for can be found by typing ‘yourblogsname.wordpress.com/wp-admin’ into your address bar.
