Download your media files

Hi, I am a wordpress.com user and am recently contemplating on getting my own domain in the future. One thing I noticed about wordpress.com is the ability to export posts, comments, tags… etc for ease of transporting my website data to my new domain. However, I have not seen anything from the control panel that can help me mass export all my media files, which are all pictures so far, to my new domain. I see no option other than to manually download each media files I have from the website and upload them to my new domain. I just want to know if there is an easier way to deal with this situation or is this the only option available right now ? Thank you for your response.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Anything uploaded to the media library will have to be downloaded one at a time to your computer using your browser and then uploaded to the new blog/domain. You will then have to go through and edit each post where there is an image and fix the URL since the URL’s will change with the new domain name and due to the change in the upload date.

You can leave your images and such here and then they will hot link to your posts/pages at your new blog. In other words, your new blog will pull those images from your old blog and then send them out to the viewer’s browser.

The blog here would have to be left public (not private), but you could select the second option to leave it public but block search engines.
