Hi there. The only way to download media files is by right-clicking and selecting “Save image as” in the right-click menu. There’s no way to download your entire media library at once.
To make sure you download the full-resolution image open the media library. Click on the image you want to download to edit it. In the image editor, select “View Image”. This will open the attachment page with your image. At the top of the page you’ll see a line stating something along the lines of “Posted on [date], [time]”, followed by a resolution (e.g. 800×600). Right-click on the resolution and select “Save link/target as” or left click on it to open the image itself and right-click “Save image as”.

The only problem I have is the image doesn’t show up. It’s a zip file I had to change the extension of since wordpress won’t allow you to upload that extension type. I have had to use this technique with emails before, this was just to large to send.
With my images that show I get the save image as, but not with this file.

Can you open the item in the media library itself? If you can, you can try pasting the file’s URL directly into a new post or page and see if you can’t download it via that link once you publish the post. I’ve no idea if it will work, but it’s the only thing I can think of.
