Downloading Files from Blogs

An acquaintance posted a file to a WordPress blog. I was interested in reading it, but when I clicked the link it took me to the WordPress login. I assumed I needed to be logged in to download files. Fine. Once I’d logged in, I was directed to my own page. Going back to the original page and clicking the file link again just takes me back to my page each time. No files are downloading. What is going on and how can I actually get to read this file? Seems like a bug.

Trying to get the Celebrating Aboriginal Culture: The Seven Sisters file, but I just get taken to my own homepage every time I click the link. The correct address comes up in the address bar, it starts to load the page, and then automatically changes itself to my page. SO irritating!

The link to that file is incorrect. The owner used a link used in the backend and only available to him.
So it certainly isn’t a bug.

  • As staartmees said, the URL provided is an internal WordPress ID to another page. Only the owner of the blog will have access to this page.
If he is an acquaintance, you might be best reaching out to him directly and ask him for the public link of the page (it actually looks like he has many page errors throughout the site).
