Downloading media

Hi, I am thinking about moving my WordPress.com site to be hosted by my current web site provider. I have exported the xml file containing the content but I want to be able to transfer the media across too. How can I do this please?

when you do the import using the xml file and you pick the correct options – the media used in Pages & Posts will be imported to your new site – media that is just stored in your old site will not transfer – so best not to delete the old site here – set it to private just in case there is an orphan file that did not get moved – if you don’t have a custom domain name mapped to your blog here – – also get the site redirect to send traffic to your new site and help search engines learn the new URL

Thank you! Your help is much appreciated. I decided not to do the remapping as WordPress, as far as I can make out, won’t process my email account associated with my domain name. My present web host tell me that because WordPress would be taking over the domain name when the site gets remapped, they (my web host) won’t be able to deal with mail either.

I have a mapped domain name and my old host / ISP still handles my email
